“LYNX” Constant Pressure Systems will be useful when conducting more advanced triaxial and dissipation tests, where pressure must be maintained accurately over long periods of time.   The reservoirs have a large capacity to compensate for loss of water in the test specimen. The control is quick and accurate. A range of systems with pressure ranging from 500 kPa to 2000 kPa.

LM17124 : SELF  COMPENSATING  CONSTANT  PRESSURE SYSTEM  (MERCURY / WATER)  TYPE.

 

This self compensating mercury control system is based upon the design of  Prof A.W. Bishop.

 

Pressure range  :  500 kPa  ( 5 kg./cm 2)

 

The unit comprises of one upper and one lower mercury/water pot, made  from  seamless  acrylic  tubes,  a  winch  and  a  carriage assembly   with   calibrated   suspension   springs   for   upper   pot; aluminium guide rails for the carriage; wooden stand for lower pot; a  laminated panel suitable for wall mounting, fitted with a hand operated pressure pump, control valves, a water reservoir and a 200mm. diameter pressure gauge of the required range. Supplied without mercury. (5 kgs. of mercury is needed for this apparatus).

Similar to LM17124, but designed for a higher specified lateral pressure range having two upper and two lower pots. Supplied without mercury. (10 kgs. of mercury is needed for this apparatus).

Similar to LM17124, but designed for a higher specified lateral pressure range, having three upper and three lower pots. Supplied without mercury (15 kgs. of mercury is needed for this apparatus).

LM17127 : SELF  COMPENSATING  CONSTANT  PRESSURE SYSTEM

 

Pressure range  2000 kPa  ( 21 kg./cm )
Similar to LM17124, but designed for a higher specified lateral pressure range, having four upper and four lower pots. Supplied without mercury (20 kgs. of mercury is needed for this apparatus).
The pressures stated for  each Constant Pressure System apply to a 4.60 metres (15 ft.) laboratory head  room. For every 30 cms. reduction  in head room, the pressure  range  reduces by 0.35 kg./cm.

     

LM17128

 

LM17128 : SELF  COMPENSATING  CONSTANT  PRESSURE SYSTEM   (OIL / WATER)  TYPE.

 

Pressure range 2000 kPa ( 21 kg./cm)
This is a unit best suited for small laboratories where clear ceiling height is insufficient for the Mercury/ Water Type lateral pressure assemblies. Mercury which is an expensive and hazardous element has been completely eliminated in this design.

The unit is designed to give a constant pressure within permissible tolerances, upto a maximum of 2000 kPa. The design incorporates a dead weight type of plunger system, rotated by a motor, through a reduction gear, in order to reduce the friction in this piston assembly. The weight added in steps, acts on the piston and provides the required pressure. The pressure is maintained by a small pump, continuously driven by an electric motor. A hand pump is also provided for quick initial buildup of pressure. A 150 mm. diameter pressure gauge is included in the circuit as a check for the functioning of the unit. A seamless acrylic, triaxial cell type chamber works as the oil/water reservoir. All the individual items are mounted of a base suitable for bench mounting.
