Site compaction control is now a standard international procedure for  a wide range of engineering projects. Pavement construction, embankment,  trench  back  filling  etc.,  are,  but  a  few  types  of projects where measurements of both natural, recompacted density and  moisture content must be taken continuously. Two   to three basic methods are in constant use – the first and possibly the simplest, using a steel core cutter of known volume, driven into the soil by a rammer. The core cutter is dug out, trimmed and the soil inside, weighed and dried for moisture and density determination. The second method is  used where a circular hole is dug into the ground.    All  the soil from within  it  is  collected, weighed, dried; andthe hole is back-filled with standard single sized sand, poured from  a  calibrated  sand  pouring  cylinder.  A  separate  calibrating container used with the apparatus assists the operator to check the repeatability of the density of poured sand. The apparatus offered is constructed of heavy duty material.

Cylindrical core cutter 100 mm. inner diameter x 130 mm. long, steel dolly 100 mm. inner diameter x 25 mm. high and rammer with steel rod.

115mm. diameter sand pouring cylinder with a conicalfunnelandshutter. Calibration container 100 mm. inner diameter x 150 mm. high with
200 mm. diameter rim.
Metal tray 300 mm. square x 40 mm. deep with a 100 mm. diameter hole in the centre.

LM17337  : SAND  POURING  CYLINDER  (LARGE)

Conforms to I S : 2720 (Part - 27) It comprises of :
215 mm. diameter sand pouring cylinder, with a conical funnel and shutter calibration container 200 mm. inner diameter x 250 mm. high, with a 350 mm. diameter rim.
Metal tray 450 mm. square x 50 mm. deep, with a 200 mm.
diameter hole in the centre.

Sampling tube of 50 mm. diameter x 450 mm. long, with an area ratio of between 15 and 20%. Supplied with two end caps, driving shoe and drive head assembly, along with a pair of ‘C’ spanners.
